Today welcomes in the Chinese New Year of the Rooster. 2017 is going to be tumultuous and emotional. I think we’ve got that message loud and clear!
Rooster’s job is to wake everyone up, and I believe that’s exactly what’s happening now (hopefully for the good).
Rooster also encourages us to open our hearts and share more love with our communities (think of the rooster with his puffed out chest (heart first), protecting and watching over the barnyard).
And with his loud cock-a-doodle-dooing, he’s a master at being heard – and he’s here to teach us how it’s done! So don’t be surprised if you’re nudged into some cock-a-doodle-dooing yourself this year! This could be the year you feel ‘forced’ to speak your truth.
Speaking our truth can be challenging – a big dollop of vulnerability usually comes with it! But Mr Rooster won’t be satisfied with us ‘just’ speaking our truth, oh no, he wants us to do this with our hearts wide open too! And because this year will be filled with a lot of emotion and turmoil, we’ll have to speak our truths during an unsettled time – whoa! more vulnerability! What a recipe for stressful times this could be!
And don’t think for one minute you can hide under the covers, because Mr Rooster’s loud wake up call will be sure to get you out of bed – there’s no blocking that sound out, even if you do wear earplugs and stick your head under two pillows!
So, how can we CONFIDENTLY open our hearts and express our truth without being negatively affected by these stressful times?
Well, during the last 18 years of my exploration into holistic wellbeing, there are a few techniques I come back to time and time again. These techniques have helped me and my clients – they’re thoroughly tried and tested. So I’m going to share three of them with you now.
These techniques will have stress bouncing off you like a sumo wrestler on a bungee jump! Here we go…
Ground, cleanse, protect and set your intention every morning.
It may sound like a lot of work, but you can do this in a minute.
When you wake up, sit on the edge of the bed. Wiggle your toes on the floor. Close your eyes. Imagine roots growing from the soles of your feet down into the earth. When you breathe in, imagine that you’re pulling that beautiful earth energy into your body. It moves into your feet, flows up your spine and fills your entire body. Focus on it spreading from the soles of your feet to the top of your head. When your attention is at the top of your head, imagine a silver light flowing down from above, washing through your whole body and down into your roots. Allow this silver light to flush away any aches or pains, worries or other negative thoughts and feelings. Then imagine surrounding yourself with a beautiful sparkling silver light. (Silver is a colour that banishes negativity). Make sure you visualise this silver light forming a glowing egg or bubble all around you. It must completely surround you, so don’t forget to imagine it forming over your head, under your feet and especially behind you.
Then create an intention for your day. Here are some questions to help define your intention: What emotion do you want to focus on today? How would you like to approach your day? What energy do you want to embrace and send out? How do you want people to feel when they come into contact with you? How can you be of service to others today?
Then open your eyes and begin your day. Remind yourself of your intention several times during the day.
Take an Epsom salt bath once a week
Epsom salts help to draw impurities out of the body. As I mention in my Body, Mind & Soul Detox Program, when you initiate a physical cleanse or “detox” you can expect the same energy to be happening on other levels too. This means that any other toxins such as crappy thoughts and emotions, will try to come to the surface as well.
Therefore an Epsom salt bath could help you to clear those crappy toxins not just physically, but mentally, emotionally and spiritually too. Epsom salts are also high in magnesium which will help you to relax body mind & soul.
So when you’re feeling challenged, or when the whole world is in your face, retreat as soon as you can to an Epsom salt bath. Light some beautiful candles, put some relaxing music on, or do like I do and use this time to enjoy a beautiful healing meditation (but don’t fall asleep and drown!!!). My FREE Soul Detox Meditation is perfect for this. You can download it from my website (at the time of writing – my free gifts do change) or download one of my Goddess meditations here.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Because Epsom salts are highly cleansing, please only do one a week. And do NOT take an Epsom salt bath when you’re menstruating, because your body is already working hard with cleansing. In this case, an Epsom salt bath could be too much for your body to handle.
INSTRUCTIONS: Place 1kg of Epsom salts in the bath. Agitate the water to help it dissolve. Lie in the bath for 20 minutes (no longer or you could begin reabsorbing the toxins you’ve released). Relax and enjoy.
Say an affirmation
When you find yourself being drained by stress and negativity, take a few deep breaths and then say this affirmation:
“I firmly stand in my beauty and peace. I return to my centre. I am safe. I am balanced. I am peace. I am love.”
You could also try this, or add it to the end of the one above:
“I choose to focus on beauty and peace. I radiate beauty and peace at all times”
I hope these techniques help you move into this new year confidently opening your heart and speaking your truth, whilst remaining peaceful and balanced at the same time.
I would love to hear from you. Which of these techniques are you going to try? And do report back to let me know how they’ve helped you.
Wishing you vibrant natural wellbeing
